2025 Annual Report

Greenville County is growing — and the Greenville County Historic and Natural Resources Trust is making sure that growth is balanced.

In 2025, the Trust approved funding for 12 projects, protecting 408.5 acres — the equivalent of nearly seven Unity Parks. That brings our five-year total to 30 projects, 2,616 acres conserved, and $6.4 million in local tax dollars invested. With every $1 of county funding leveraging $4.25 in additional investment, Greenville County's return continues to compound.

In 2025, we funded projects to:

  • Conserve 126 acres at Sky Ranche and 87 acres at Altamont Pass for future public access

  • Protect working farmland at Moore Farm

  • Expand the Swamp Rabbit Trail

  • Grow Conestee Nature Park and Southside Park

  • Safeguard drinking water along the Saluda River corridor

This year also brought four new Eligible Entities into the fold — Conestee Foundation, City of Greenville, Greenville County PRT, and Upstate Greenways & Trails Alliance — along with a new private funding partner, The New Leaf Fund.

As the Trust approaches its fifth anniversary and final grant cycle of the program's initial five years, this report captures what local investment in conservation can accomplish — and why it matters for the future of Greenville County.
