Bates House and Historic Site

This project was previously known as Project 049.

Built in 1835 as the home of textile pioneer William Bates, this house and almost 11 surrounding acres overlook the Rocky Creek area of Pelham on Highway 14. Now surrounded by dense housing development, the house has stood for almost 200 years as testament to the region’s textile history and the legacy of a man who has been referred to as “one of the most successful textile manufacturers in the state.”
